WPP Activities

The Women Peacemakers Program (WPP) is active on several levels: Capacity building; networking and movement building; documentation and dissemination; and joint lobby and advocacy for the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda.

Capacity building for Gender-Sensitive Active Nonviolence (GSANV) takes place through the organizing of regional Training of Trainers Cycles. WPP also invests in bringing different activists and movements together, in an effort to deepen analysis on the roots of armed conflict as well as to develop innovative approaches together to address it. This is done through the organizing of regional and global Consultation Meetings.

A major component of our work is awareness raising and dissemination of knowledge via our publications, social media outreach, and public events. Another aspect of our work includes lobby and advocacy in the framework of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda, for which we cooperate with national and international organizations and platforms.

Gender & Militarism

By analyzing militarization and violence women activists have been able to uncover the roots and impact of militarization and war on their own lives, the lives of men, and on the community as a whole. Connecting this analysis with the current challenges of implementing the Women, Peace & Security agenda, WPP embarked on a journey to deepen analysis and raise awareness on the multi-layered linkages between gender & militarism. This section gives you an overview of the various WPP activities and documentation on Gender & Militarism.
