Interview Minister Ploumen by IPI Global Observatory

Following the Panel Discussion "Involving Religious Leaders in Women's Rights. Innovative Practices and Challenges from the Field", organized by the Women Peacemakers Program (WPP) during 58th session of the Commission Status of Women in New York, WPP facilitated the International Peace Institute in interviewing the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Lilianne Ploumen. In this interview, Minister Ploumen, also the opening speaker of the WPP Panel Discussion, emphasizes the need for a stand alone goal for women and girls in the post 2015 agenda, as well as in all other goals a clear role for women and girls. 

I think women can be a force for good. They are a force for change, but they also need our support to make that happen, and I'm very proud that we are able to do so” Minister Ploumen said.

Event Summary: Pulling the Rug from Under Civil Society’s Feet - We Must Create Our Own Rugs!

7 Nov '17 On Thursday, 26 October 2017, a side event entitled, “Pulling the Rug from Under Our Feet: What is the UNSCR 1325 Without Civil Society Freedoms?” was hosted on the margins of the 17th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325. The event was hosted by the Women Peacemakers Program (WPP) and the Dutch Mission, in collaboration with Duke Law’s International Human Rights Clinic, Al-Hayat Center for Civil Society Development, Arab Women Organisation of Jordan, NOVACT, Free Sight Association, Iraqi Al-Amal Association, Women Empowerment Organisation, NGO Working Group on Women, Peace and Security and Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom.
