The Center for Women’s Global Leadership (CWGL) just published the 2014 Take Action Kit for the 16 Days of Action Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign. Use this kit to plan your activities for the 16 Days Campaign between 25 November and 10 December!

The English version of the Take Action Kit is now available for download. You can also request a hard copy of the Kit, the hard copies of which CWGL will start sending out in early September. CWGL will also share French and Spanish versions of the entire Take Action Kit in the coming days, so please be sure to check the 16 Days Campaign website regularly. If you are interested in volunteering to translate any of the Take Action Kit documents into another language, please contact CWGL by emailing 16days@cwgl.rutgers.edu.

Every year, the 16 Days Campaign marks 16 days of awareness raising, activism, and action against gender-based violence. Recognizing the critical role militarism plays in perpetuating gender-based violence, the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign will continue with the theme of “From Peace in the Home to Peace in the World: Let’s Challenge Militarism and End Violence Against Women!” The priority areas for 2014 are: 1) Violence Perpetrated by State Actors; 2) Proliferation of Small Arms in Cases of Intimate Partner Violence; and 3) Sexual Violence During and After Conflict.

WPP is happy to have contributed to several information sheets of the Take Action Kit, sharing insights on the connections between militarism and gender and how this is reflected in violence perpetrated by state actors, the proliferation of small arms and sexual violence during and after conflict. We are already planning our 16 Days event and we are looking forward to 16 days filled with activism and action!

More information about the 16 Days Campaign, including ideas of how you can participate, can be found on the 16 Days Campaign website
